A day in the JB Touring

Every day.Not just the highlight reel.

This is what a normal day looks like in the JB Touring - morning to night. The spec exists to make each of these moments work without thinking.

  1. Morning light inside the JB Touring

    7:10am

    Wake up. Induction on.

No gas bottle to check. No regulator to fiddle with. Hit the induction and coffee is ready in four minutes. The bedroom has its own smart TV — morning news without leaving bed.

  2. Parking the JB Touring at a site

    9:30am

    Pull in. Park. Done.

Reverse camera. Electric step deploys on door open. Standard car licence. Two minutes from moving to set up — no unhitching, no levelling ritual, no 20-minute site routine.

  3. A day away from the parked motorhome

    12:45pm

Day trips in the car you left at home.

The motorhome stays parked. You take the second vehicle — or hire one locally. This is the trade-off worth understanding: no day-trip flexibility from the motorhome itself.

  4. Power system in the JB Touring

    4:00pm

Back at camp. 333Ah says you're fine.

EcoFlow BMS — 333Ah lithium, 600W solar. You've run the air con for two hours, charged devices, and the fridge hasn't stopped. The battery monitor says 71%. Good.

  5. Leather lounge and kitchen in the JB Touring

    6:15pm

    Real leather. Real kitchen.

Genuine leather across every seat, headboard, and panel. Waterfall benchtop. Induction. 224L compressor fridge. This is dinner in a space that doesn't feel like camping — because it isn't.

  6. The JB Touring at night with the slide-out open

    10:30pm

    Off-grid. No stress. Night.

Air con set. Slide-out open on the Slideout configuration — living room expanded by 700mm. EcoFlow running through the night. No generator noise. No hookup required.

The licence question

Standard car licence. All states. All configurations.

The honest comparison

Motorhome or caravan.Neither is always right.

Most buyers considering a motorhome have also looked at a caravan. This is the comparison they need, without a sales pitch attached to either option.

AlternativeScorpion Sting Air + tow vehicle

Setup at camp
Park and stop. No levelling, no hitching, no unhitching.
Unhitch, level, set up awning, connect utilities. 20–45 min depending on site.
Solo driving
Drive it like a large car. Reverse camera standard. No tow vehicle GVM calculation.
Hitching and unhitching solo is manageable with practice - but more complex than driving alone.
Off-road access
Formed unsealed roads. Not rated for creek crossings, deep corrugations, or remote tracks.
Scorpion Sting Air handles creek crossings, remote tracks, extended remote touring.
Running cost
~13–15L/100km diesel. Single vehicle rego, insurance, and servicing.
Tow vehicle fuel (similar or higher). Two sets of rego, insurance, and tyres.
Flexibility at destination
The motorhome is your only vehicle. Day trips mean walking, cycling, or hiring locally, plan destinations accordingly.
Unhitch at site. Tow vehicle available for day trips. More flexibility at destination. More flexibility at destination.
Living space
7.9m body. Full-width bedroom, lounge, full kitchen, ensuite. Slideout option expands living room.
19.5–23.5ft body. Comparable space - sometimes more in longer configurations.
Purchase cost
From $236,500 inc. GST — vehicle and home combined.
Scorpion Sting Air from $173,000 + a suitable tow vehicle.

The honest advice: If remote off-road access is important to your trip plan, a caravan is the right choice. If simplicity, solo capability, and no tow vehicle are the priority — the JB Touring is designed for exactly that.
